A Glass Lens on Kopiko Aotearoa (an epic bike trip) - 5th Aug 2023 to 26th Aug 2023

A Glass Lens on Kopiko Aotearoa (an epic bike trip)

Earlier this year Di Tocker embarked on her first solo bikepacking adventure, undertaking the arduous Kopiko Aotearoa Brevet* cycling 1060km on her trusty bike Betty.

Packed with her minimal needs for two weeks, Di set off from East Cape Lighthouse at sunrise on the 22nd of January, following the hilly and remote course, climbing over 17,000 metres (almost the equivalent of climbing Mt Everest, twice!) and finished at Cape Egmont Lighthouse 13 days later

With 92hours in the saddle and most of this spent riding alone, Di had plenty of time to think and appreciate the journey; wide open hills and valleys that went on forever, pockets of rich native forest and those never ending gravel roads (mostly uphill!). About day 5, Di decided she'd have to bring this trip to life...in glass.

A Glass Lens on Kopiko Aoteroa (an epic bike trip) includes 13 glass lenses. Each lens is inspired by a scene, memory or emotional response to her epic bike trip.

Join Di at her Glass Studio in August to celebrate
