The Painter and the Glassmaker

An exhibition bringing together two very different creative voices, shaped by 10 years of friendship, encouragement and Monday morning conversations.

For a decade, my working week has begun in much the same way: with a Monday morning phone call to my friend and painter, Jennie De Groot.

From our Waikato studios, we talk about everything from works in progress and creative roadblocks to exhibitions, ideas, the ups and downs of running an arts business, and all those little wins (and losses) that only another artist really understands.

Although we work in different mediums, we share a love of colour, storytelling, and a curiosity about the world around us.

The exhibition brought together our two distinct creative voices, reflecting the quiet encouragement and inspiration we had given each other over the years. More than an exhibition, it was a celebration of friendship, creativity, and 10 years of Monday morning conversations.
